Bodhisattvas have sworn to become Buddhas and save everyone from suffering, but haven’t finished their training to actually do so. We’ll usually only use the term for someone with limitless compassion, a spirit of universal love, and power over material and spiritual things—just making the promise isn’t enough!
Bodhisattvas do not have to be ninjas. For example they can also host cooking shows or build death rays. Such is their compassion that the death rays do not work.
